About

The appointment of Professor Nirvikar Singh as chair of Sikh and Punjabi Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz was announced by the Interim Dean of Humanities, Professor William A. Ladusaw, on December 6, 2010.  On March 18, 2011, UCSC celebrated this appointment to the newly inaugurated Sarbjit Singh Aurora Chair.  Through the Sikh Foundation, Hardit S. Aurora and his wife Harbhajan K. Singh made a gift, in honor of their son Sarbjit Singh Aurora, to fund the Sikh and Punjabi Studies Chair at UCSC.

Across Campuses

Many academic institutions are the state, the country, and the world are home to Sikh and/or Punjabi Studies programs. The University of California, Santa Barbara was the first UC to begin establishing such a program in 2000.
